i'm curious to know which JJ Grey & MOFRO song you can best relate to...

the power and message of this band's music is incomparable in my eyes!!
and i think this may be quite a challenge to pick just one. especially if you truly love every single song they have created!

the "theme song" of my soul is

I Believe.

and because it's too dang impossible to pick just one... my number 2 is the Junior Kimbroug cover JJ did with Willie Green on the Cross Creek Blues album

My Mama Told Me (Sad Days Lonely Nights)

I picked up my copy of the Cross Creek Blues Album at The Yearling.

But i found a link to buy it @ http://www.williegreenblues.com under the music tab.

there are two songs that JJ sings, Skinny Woman by R.L Burnside & Mama Told Me(Sad Days Lonely Nights). Also, there is one that JJ & Willie co-wrote called Yearling Blues. it's basically a recorded jam session. It is raw and wonderful!! and a must have for any JJ fan!!

First song that my heart and soul tells me is FLORIDA.

Being a Floridian and having the opportunity to wanderin' around in the Back Country fishin' and campin' and to be able to experience the type beauty that lays beyond the sandy beaches ...... these lyrics sure hit home ........ Closest runner up would be Brighter Days.

Thanks for askin'

ps - thanks for the Willie Green info - just bought his disc from the link you provided....Can't Wait!!!

Definitely Whitehouse for me. So much in that songs hits home. Mama callin' out to me tellin me don't wander off too far, sno cones for foul balls, throwin pennies on the tracks and playin in the rain, etc. etc. etc...

Feel that vibe lord feel that vibe

I thought it was real but as I got closer it had the "human smell"

I ain't jumped in on this thread yet. I think I would have to go with "Everybody's"  It gets me every time. Don't even know exactly why.

When's the last time it was played live? I don't recall seeing it on a setlist for a long, long time. How I'd love to hear that at the Windjammer. DT that would be like you hearing Brighter Days live for your second or third time. Nothing quite like the first but still mighty fine, mighty fine indeed.

yeah?? that was such a great show!! we were standing in the front & left to the stage. the crowd energy was about to blow the roof off that place & you know how great JJ & MOFRO are at playing the crowd.... so the band switched gears and played some of the slower jams.

Mine is absolutely Brighter Days.  I am a native Floridian that grew up on the St Johns.  Every part of that song resonates in my soul, especially right now as I am stuck in Cali for a year.  =/

Hmmmmm.....I went and dug through my collection of setlists and the  one I have for the Common Grounds does not list "Everybody's" , but then again that was before I started notating deviations and changes to the paper setlist and we all know JJ likes to change things up depending on the energy of the crowd and time contraints.
