Great, energetic show in Grand Rapids Tue night. Whatever sickness JJ may have had certainly did not show. They came out full throttle. Not a huge crowd, but those there were into it and gave a lot of love, JJ was moving all over the stage all night. JJ also took the time and came down to the floor to chat with people for a good 30min after the show. Gotta love'em.
Daryl was quite good as well imo. He's a pretty darn good singer, and a lot of his riffs reminded me of Mofro. It was also nice to see him let loose on a few sweet solos; he wasn't the reserved Daryl we are used to seeing when his with Mofro. All and all, an amazing night. Definately a great set! This current arrangement of Mofro is very tight! Was definately nice to be in the presence of this live show once again!
JJ was certainly feelin fine, his vocal was prolly... hmmm... 80%? Definately still carrying the groggy head cold. The difference between the two nights was very noticeable... I was in attendance in Ann Arbor last night, his voice is recovering quickly... The encore was abbreviated from what I can remember... pretty sure they neva got around to "Gotta Know"... I have plenty more commentary but I'm still processing it all personally. I'll be back with my review of both shows all inclusive, perhaps even tonight afta work, I'm pretty pooped out though. Stoopid job.... Keepin me from headin to Indy tonight.... Grrrrrr.... LOL! __________________ "The idea of the Clavinet, on the wah wah pedal, had ta come from nature..."

So did Daryl come out and jam with the band? Did AC play drums? Shane Patten on bass? He kills. We've seen Daryl a few times and his singing is getting stronger as he goes. At first it was kinda like he talks...real quiet. But he's definitely projecting more. And seeing him stand and strike a pose and shit is pretty cool. He even smiles (sometimes!)
Quick story some of y'all have heard...first time we went to see him a year ago was his 2nd or 3rd gig. I had no idea what to expect, we hadn't gotten any preview or nothing. Didn't know if it was all instrumental or if he had a singer or what. We knew AC was his drummer and we met Shane after we arrived. So I'm talking to Daryl before the show and quizzing him on what to expect. I asked if there were vocals. He said yes. I asked if he wrote the lyrics. He said yes. I asked who the singer is. He said "me". I said no shit, I didn't no you sang. He said yeah, with AC and Shane as backups. I said well I'll be damned, you're singing. He said, "well no not right now." He's got a wickedly dry sense of humor.

For them's that may have missed the news, Daryl's new record will be out in January. He's got a new website coming in a couple weeks.
