simone was there with baby sage, whatta a cute little button
It was very cool; she came out to the wings just one song before Sweetest Thing. She told me that it was Sage's first show. I asked what she thought and Simone said that she wasn't fazed by it cause she hears her daddy singing around the hourse all night.

I just realized no one posted the setlist. A couple of songs got scratched because of time...I think this is right.

Ybor City
Hoochie Coochie Man
Mississippi
WYLF
War
Fire Flies
Lochloosa
Sweetest Thing
Ho Cake
Orange Blossoms
On Fire

(King Hummingbird (which was marked on the list as being acoustic) and Brighter Days were scratched; the venue has a strict 10 pm curfew.)

As I mentioned, this was an odd crowd. The festival is in what once was THE working class place to retire in Florida: St. Petersburg. There's still a lot of oldsters around, and this time of year all the snowbirds ain't gone back yet.  Then there's the mix of ages of being a diverse metro area.

So it was a laid back festival feeling, lots of silver hair in the grass sitting in lawn chairs, kind of like going to a music festival and seeing your gran and gramps there with some of their friends, all complaining about their corns and their leaky bladders and erectile disfunction.

Accordingly, there was no real jamming by the band.  The sound/acoustics were great, it's just that the time frame and crowd left for a more scripted set. Even Ho Cake was pretty straightforward.  Don't get me wrong...I'm not at all saying they were bad. It's just there wasn't room to jam 'em up and break loose.

A solid performance by all the guys.  All in all the setlist and performance were spot on for the crowd and venue. I think they'll pick up a lot of new fans from it.

set list: was I overtired/drunk/otherwise mentally handicapped, or was there an encore of Brighter Days? I have vivid memories of JJ boinging up and down during the later half of the song, and my 8 yr-old daughter singing at the top of her lungs.

Very fun afternoon/evening, great to see everyone.

Not that I would ever contradict The Foundation of the Mofro Nation, but I think Tox is correct...
The setlist I have:

Ybor City
Hoochie Coochie Man
Missisippi
WYLF
War
Fire Flies
Lochloosa
Sweetest Thing
Ho Cake
King Hummingbird - crossed out and not played
Orange Blossoms
Brighter Days
On Fire - crossed out and replaced by Tupelo Honey

Thanks again to Adam for the setlist...

Question away there BSR! I knew there was something not right about it. Thanks for correcting it. Yeah Tupelo Honey was sweet (no pun intended) but we got the electric version; hasn't he been playing acoustic at the recent shows (or did I like dream that or something?)

Good seeing you and tox for sure.
