listening to some live brock butler shows(jamcruise 7&8 pooldeck), something in the way that man sings and plays guitar moves me.I think its pretty powerful when someone can do that all by himself , not being backed by a band.
I've seen keb'mo do that at the HoB new orleans, you could have heard a pin drop, also jj solo at the orlando CD store, folks actually shutup for a second.

stream of their album, http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/ap
Heard of them for the first time yesterday & wow.  An updated sound to old R&B/soul that is a little bit infectious.

Oh yeah, she's the one that's drenched in Jack Daniel's swagger!

I'm listening to Robert Plant's upcoming new album "Band of Joy" right now.
Plant reinvented himself a bit with the "Raising Sand" album with Alison Krauss, and it was obviously a winning formula (at least according to the armful of Grammys it earned, and the eleventeen billion people that bought the album).
My first impression here is that while the tree is obviously still rooted in the same Americana and roots rock foundation as "Raising Sand", it seems to me that the branches of Band of Joy tend to stretch a bit further out at times than those of the preceding album.

Give it a listen and see what you think.
(If it's not the first thing listed in the player, you can look for the "First Listen" feature on the list. It's supposed to be streaming until the album comes out.)

Wow, thanks for that! JJ was never a vocal slouch by any means, but his voice certainly has morphed a bit over time.

I'm listening to the band Current Swell right now. For anyone who isn't familiar, I'd explain it tentatively as good fun rock-ish stuff with reggae and sometimes also blues and bluegrass influences.

Not sure if there's any hip hop fans here...but this is what I've been listening to alot lately.  I've actually been getting lots of positive comments from the JJ Grey and Mofro videos I posted on their site...so I figured the least I could do is try to spread their music over here a little.

And to answer someone's earlier question....God Willing and the Creek Dont Rise is a GREAT album....if you liked anything before, make sure you get the new one...look for some of his live bootleg stuff too.
