Hi all,
Frustrated by the lack of merch at the band's last 3 shows up here, I have been working on my own design and I wondered if you could let me know what you think please? Any feedback or ideas to make it better are most welcome. I have not thought about colors yet, but was thinking maybe a cream color on a red T maybe?

Anyhow, here she is.

Cheers from Canada

I think that's EXCELLENT david. As for colors I'm kinda seeing it the other way around...a cream or beige-ish shirt. Then you could experiment a little with the colors of the lettering. That's my 2 cents (which is worth maybe a half cent.)

I think it's pretty. Are there hummingbird references in a lot of the songs? Im a bit of a MOFROOB...(Mofro Noob). Yeah, I made up a word.

Nice! I kind of like your original color scheme, but would maybe go for a darker maroon shirt instead of red... I don't much like lighter-colored T-shirts, but that's just me. My only suggestion would be to maybe make the band name a little smaller, it seems right now like the large writing kind of overpowers the pretty graphic. If I had my druthers, I'd make the writing smaller and all on one line, to complement the bottom caption better. (Again, might just be me, but I also don't love wearing things with words that "scream," I prefer a subtler "whisper." That's why I desperately wish they'd re-issue the women's "Orange Blossoms" pink shirt... the focus is on the art, and the writing is almost an afterthought.)

Hey, Clay, have y'all ever held a T-shirt/logo design contest? That could be fun.

nice David!  wish there was a way to get you a tee shirt.  Is there any chance you could hop the border when they play somewhere way up yonder??

"MOFROOB" I love it! Good question, I'd probably ask that too if I was new to the band.

The Orange Blossoms album features a hummingbird as the graphic art (JJ does all the art for all the CD covers, btw). As such when the record was released they did the hummingbird artwork on various color shirts for men and women. (And a nifty laptop/netbook decal too.) There's actually only one song (a very personal one to JJ) with anything about hummingbirds and that of course would be King Hummingbird.

Keep the questions coming!

And maybe the Mofro part should remain slightly smaller than the JJ Grey part.  As Clay pointed out a while back (too lazy to look for the thread right now) the font size on the covers has changed significantly over time

Obviously JJ's name has moved more and more to the forefront. We've all talked about it on here before at one time or another and JJ's talked about it many times in interviews. Just look at the record covers:

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mofro name disappear from future record covers. I've also heard him say that Mofro IS the band behind him and that ain't ever going away.
