He worked there, I've got an old cassett somewere on JJ & SLC,some
funny stuff! use to play it on CB-ch-19 for the truck drivers !
Should be Info.in archives, relating to where "MOFRO"'S name originated,
amongst lumber co employee's & JJ using mofro as a slang word between
each other.SLC not really a factor,as far as I know.

Yeah I can remember the story of how the name Mofro came to be from the earlier days. It was when he used to work there and the inherent clowning would ensue... Everything was a "mofro".. damn boy... check out that crazy lookin mofro. Shit like that. I asked about this years ago and JJ told me at one point they were wearin that word out.

Didn't take long for the story to become skewed through interviews and such. I've heard it came from when JJ worked at a hardware store more than anything. I think I remember even reading one that claimed it was from a time when he worked in a ship yard. I've neva heard of any counts of JJ workin in a ship yard aside from that, nor a hardware for that matter. Suppose it's plauseable... Jacksonville being a port town n' all. That's gonna happen in the media though...

Damn I'd love to wrap my ears around some of those vintage nuggets you homeboys like jimbo, hollis and skotdee are sittin on!

JJ told me one time that he really HATES it when the media does shit like that. He said there always getting stuff wrong. A hardware store huh? I hadn't heard that one before but I'm sure JJ has! He worked at an air conditioning repair place but I dunno about no hardware store.

Them nuggets of which you speak, I suppose you've been thru the Stump the Hollis thread? (Named, of course, for uhollis who has a vast knowledge of all things early Mofro.) That thread is THE thread to read for them nuggets of which you speak. Jimbo, skotdee, uhollis, stan, and a bunch more indeed have a ton of knowledge they shared.

Yeah Sawyer Air Cond. I believe is what you speak of...

And yeah... I'd let the skewed details drive me nuts too if put in shoes of JJ's nature. He pours his life into his music and you'd hope the journalistic types would take half the pride in their covering of such. Reminds me of a scene from like Waynes World back in the day... the radio personality is just nodding his head generically goin... "yeah..yeah... uhh huh.. Yep... right on..." all the while you could be tellin him how ridiculous a job he's doing.

Point in case. We recently read and saw interviews where the guy couldn't straighten out Georgia Warhouse from Warhorse... The details mang!! LOL!

And yes sir... I have gone through the Stump the Hollis thread a little. I'm just having a good ol time still gettin comfy round here though. Perhaps I'll feel comfy enough to bend these guys ears further at some point. Those guys are royalty...

I never will forget when going to pic up Daryl at Sawer gas & A/C (jj & daryl both worked there) Daryl made my chin fall in my lap & I almost

not my bag.I said a/c's not a bad career,he says I'm gonna play my Guitar
& Music & dad,I'm only 18 yrs old. what could I say !
As I've said before, JJ & DARYL know what the're doing & ya want be

That's too great Jimbo. We're awful glad you didn't try to talk him into stayin in the A/C biz! Sounds like u had a lotta faith in that boy. And lookey what happened. And u betcha them boys know what they're doing. I've been following what Daryl's been doing and he's doing an amazing job at booking his gigs and marketing them as well as his new record. You got to be mighty proud of that man who was a boy some 20-ish years ago!

modifab...I think most of those old nuggets that are around have been added to the LMA already.  I have a couple that still need to be uploaded, but have to dig through some boxes that are in storage and put together an old show from the Bamboo Room (two nights, but only parts of each were listenable....nasty buzz during some of the songs) before I can do so.

Thank ya kindly for the heads up Stan. I need to spend a good bit of time with that LMA... I only recently found the LMA, just before meeting you, which was my pleasure by the way. Just wish I woulda had more wind in my sail to join ya for the heavyweight club that night. Sorry man... Next time!

In all actuality.. I need to upgrade my computer and gear up for downloading. Mine's very weak as it's extremely old. Thus far I've been jamming shows on a jump drive at work with the speedy bandwidth and bringin em home... It's so bad I can't even try to open a video link and I have kick ass high speed internet with a turd of an idiot box. Priorities........

modifab....Anytime!  It was a pleasure meeting you and your girlfriend (?) also.  I understand fully about you not hanging as you did just earlier in the day drive all the way down from Michigan.  Hopefully we'll be able to hang at another show in the not to distant future.  I plan on taking a trip to the old storage unit this weekend to see if I can find more of those old Mofro shows and pics.  If so, I'll be uploading them soon.
