wow ........... my last show of 2013.
My first show was in October of 2006, not sure of the date.
The venue was The Orange Peel, which I still consider by home venue,
even though Our Boys have not played there since October 29, 2010.
I guess I was quite fortunate/spoiled that I was able to count on
M*O*F*R*O playing the Peel every October for 5 years running.....
I know they will return to my home venue....someday.
Gregg and I met up with Bad Habit, Misphotographer, and
Craven Moore at the restaurant of The Handlebar.
Had some quality time with Briggzz and his Lovely.
Soon to cross paths with Anthony, AC, Aaron and Todd.
Sunshine & Briggzz
Sunshine and Mr. Sunshine
Briggzz (triple fisting it) and his Lovely
After we wrapped up dinner, Gregg and I took the Naner Puddin' I whipped up,
that Art had requested repeatedly at the Charlotte show,
handed it to Dennis when we approached the bus.
I was undecided as to what to bring, but at this time of year,
funds and time are of the essence, so it was the perfect request.
The opening act, Oli Brown, was pretty awesome.
Easy on the ears as well as the eyes.
Loved his boots too!!
As I was asked not to use my camera,
my lack of photos of Our Boys reflects this.
But I tried to capture a few.
Say what ......
this is my one of my favs
at it is my crazy take on "camera art"
it is of AC going to town...
almost appears as if he has a Mohawk, lol
Ok, now for my take on the set list. Loved the opener, Your Lady She's Shady!
It seemed to catapult the show and the fans right out of the shoot.
Hide n Seek and then one would think A Woman would tone down the crowd,
but we fed off of Art and JJ for this song and kept that energy alive and growing!
I could listen to Brighter Days until the ends of time,
so I always feel privileged to hear this one.
Then, when JJ said this is about a good friend who died taking oxycotin ......
I couldn't believe it. They performed Tragic.....
Last time this song was during the Country Ghetto tour in 2007.
It is possible I am mistaken....but I do know that this song is held close to JJ's heart,
as the song Dew Drops is, and it is not one he would choose to perform regularly.
Ho Cake was so much fun!!!! Great solos!!!
Been a while since I had heard Everything Good Is Bad,
and I will have to say that the crowd was all over this one!
I LOVED the long drawn out prelude to Orange Blossom!!
JJ usually will tap his tambourine with a drum stick and then jumps into the lyrics,
but this time he took his time and he seemed just kinda improvise
and it sounded almost (to me anyway)
like the rhythmic sounds of an Indian Chief making beautiful music on his drums....
oh how I wish there was a taper there.
First encore was Lochloosa, thought for a bit,
I was gonna see a show without this absolute gem!
And the intro to On Fire was a bit different from what I have heard..........
it seemed as if they were gonna play Dirtfloorcracka for a minute or so
and then they broke into On Fire ......... and yes it would be as you imagined........
hot, and the perfect song to end such an energized show from start to finish!!
It was incredible to see and hug and hang with each of you, my Mofro Familia!!

And I would love to thank Ms. Erica for grabbing JJ's setlist and giving it to me,
just so I could lose it.... (
but I just hope who ever found it, will enjoy it as much as I would have.
I am looking forward to as many shows as I am able to see in 2014.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
