Geez gigs that's downright tricky. Men do the same thing with golf clubs except they say "no these aren't new clubs, I'm just borrowing a set from a friend to see if I like the driver (that leaves 'em scratching their heads.)

Yes, but see......that is a lie! Whereas what we double x chromosome owners do is just "delay the truth!"

And don't worry about it justag8grl.....MOFRO tickets are cheaper than a divorce lawyer, your significant other will probably concede this fact if they should ever discover the delaying of the truth! Lol

I prefer to call it "a misunderstanding of the actual facts."

Hell I've done both. Next time I'm gonna try changing the grip on my balls.
(ahem...for those of you who don't know, that's a golfing term.)

Carl Spackler: This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.

Good grief, it's been forever since I got on here...I know, I know...shame on me!!! My lack of appearances on the forum is in no way indicative of me abstaining from JJG&M! Listening to my iPod now with nothing but JJ on. I just wanted to thank you all for the great info you provided about Lochloosa, the cabins, and boats. Our trip is fast approaching, and we're getting so excited. I can definitely find exactly what we need thanks to everyone's wonderful suggestions. THANK YOU

From what I've seen when I've traveled to Lochloosa--Cross Creek actually--is that there are a couple or 3 boat rental places within a mile or 2 of the Yearling. So there may be someone else with motors. You may also want to check on the water depth. Cross Creek is on the SW side of the lake; we stopped at the boat launch area just off 301 on the NE side of the lake a month ago and the water was so far down that a boat couldn't even be launched. So the creek may be really really low. But that don't mean you can't go on it. The boats at the rental places are already in the water.

I am beyond bummed because Cross Creek is completely dry & Lochloosa is down to only 4-5 feet. I called & spoke to the lady at Twin Lakes & she was so upset about it. Told me it had something to do with the politicians...big surprise! She had never heard of JJ, so I insisted she get on YouTube & check out Lochloosa at least, as she is a Florida native & considers these lakes her home. I have a feeling our boys just gained a new fan. Needless to say, she informed me that taking out a boat was impossible. Fishing on Lochloosa will remain on my bucket list because we won't be going in April after all...sigh

Damn, beyond bummed indeed. That really sucks 3nail. Yeah between the state govt allowing more and more withdrawing of water from the aquifers and caving to special interests bent on shrinking our preserved land it's an uphill battle. Dams have been built to divert water flows over the last half century. And such. And it ain't helped that we've had some 1-3 year droughts over the last 15 years, just came off a very dry winter, and forecast is a very dry spring.

Here would be my recommendation...October, November. Coming right off the rainy season and it'll be as full as it's gonna get. We get some rain in Dec and Jan but sporadic and it can get cold. A 25 mile an hour wind coming across the lake with 45 degree temps ain't my idea of fun. But Oct is perfect.

If you plan on doing other stuff in Fla, Oct is also great. The big Orlando attractions are less busy because it's right between seasons. Pretty much the same for other places.

And I agree with you that if the woman at Twin Lakes listened to Lochloosa and Florida she's hooked for life!

Thanks for the tips. I remain hopeful that I will be able to enjoy the beauty & magic of Lochloosa some day. And yes, I know she will fall in love with them. How could she not!
