With awl this talk of JJ doing awl of his recorded songs at the Bamboo Room, many many of which he has not performed in like ever, I dug as far back as I could and found this show from the High Sierra Music Festival on July 5, 2001.  Blackwater was the opener and there was a different sound through out the song, kinda sounded like a spring springing, it added a nice feel to the song.  Wondering if anyone knows what instrument made that noise.

I can understand Uhollis’s view when comparing the M*O*F*R*O of today to the M*O*F*R*O of long ago.  This show is almost 10 years ago.  There is a definite difference between the two. I must say that I do so enjoy the vibe of how the older shows come across, a bit more, lets say, gritty.  I also love the feel the horns bring to the music of today as well.  The energy those 7 guys exude on stage is just incredible.

Here is the show from 2001, just finished up listening to it.  I did notice that there were horns on How Junior Got His Head Put Out. There are 7 songs from this festival & I am loving the older M*O*F*R*O as much as the M*O*F*R*O from 5 years ago to the M*O*F*R*O of today!!!!!!!!  I guess it is JJ’s progression of the direction of his music. As time has passed from 2001 to 2011, JJ’s voice has definitely deepened.  One never knows, life has known to go full circle at times.  Love  the Lazy Fo’ Acre indeed!!!  what a sexy voice!

Enjoy!!!

Yeah, I miss the early years with Shapiro on keys, Barnett on drums, FabGrease on bass and Hance on guitar......all those shows with JJ telling us stories of his childhood while feeding him whiskey/beers/Yaeger/etc......those were the days.  Not that I don't like the new lineup, it's just that lineup hooked me and to this day they are still my favorites......GOOD TIMES!!!

I can definately see your point of view regarding your favorite line up of band members.  The line up that hooked me was JJ, Daryl, George and Adam.  I miss Adam, but dew enjoy Anthony on the keys.

You don't have any love for Dennis and Art, Sunny? Shame on you.....and yeah, I still miss Scone. That was one cool cat on the bass and organ.
