The event director of our annual Harvest Jazz and Blues festival announced yesterday, that JJ and Mofro will be back this year. The date is not yet on the official tour schedule but it will be mid September. It is the event that I first saw the boys 2 years ago. They stole the festival then and our city and festival must have made an impression on them. JJ mentioned it at his very next date at Mavericks and to top it off, it was their agent that called and requested that they be invited back. Our festival and Telluride were during the same week last year. Derek and Susan did both, too bad JJ hadn't.

I hate for the summer to get over quick but at least if it does, we have the boys to look forward to.

Now I'm stoked. The schedule for the main stages was released today, 2 count em 2 Mofro shows. September 16 & 17 (Fri & Sat)

The link below is for the main venues. Plus every bar in city will have acts playing, as well as street musicians everywhere. 21st year of the festival and it just keeps getting better.

I see something curious helix. The Fri date says JJ Grey Matinee (yes that rhymes). It says JJ Grey & Mofro at the bottom of the box but I've a feeling that's a default setting. Sooooo...does that mean it's a solo set??

Band site, facebook don't say. They still say same thing they have
Festival 9/16-9/17
Actual show date TBA

Maybe I can get clarification tomorrow. Keep an eye on their sched page or fb page. Maybe they'll update it tomorrow. An acoustic set Fri and full band set on Sat ought to give you something to look forward to big time.

I was wondering the same thing Mr D. I agree it would be cool to see both a solo set and a full band set in the same weekend. However, I have been bragging this band up to a lot of people, who didn't see them the last time they were here. So if someone can only make one show and it's the friday show, I would hope they can see the whole band. The Friday night lineup for that venue is amazing.

JJ , Pimps of Joytime, Warren Haynes Band, Medeski,Martin&Wood

On Sat night Mofro is on at the same time as Jonny Lang, guess I won't see Jonny Lang.

Thanks for looking into it Clay, there's a better chance of you finding out if it's solo than for me to find out.

Helix I finally got an answer back. It's a full band show. They're supposed to be changing it on the website. I just checked and they haven't yet.

Thanks Mr.D, I'm currently in Vegas until May 22. I have a guy back home picking up my All Events pass. For $220 I can see any event in any of the 4 major venues, all week.
