Come follow me on a jog!!!
Trying to get/stay healthy, so I have taken up jogging as of late.
A lot of folks jog the lake around here, and it is indeed a beautiful place to jog or walk.
I have a few issues with that concept;
1- there is always folks dewin the lake and can be crowded sometimes
2 - the footprint it leaves driving there (small as it may be)
3 - not to mention the time I save not driving there
So I decided to just walk out the door,
and jog the back streets of my hood.
Heading out of my holler ....
up by the mailboxes
back in the vistas (a subdivision that never developed, good for me!)
It is just as beautiful and a HUGE plus is the solidarity I feel within
when I see not a soul during my excursions.
Granted there are more ups and downs than flat land,
but I look at that as a bonus!!!
On this one particular jog,
what really stood out was the array of scents I experienced.
From Honeysuckle on the sides of the road ...
to the neighbors rose bushes ...
to the lovely smell of the manure just sprayed onto gardens (yes, it’s that time of year) ...
to the scent of fresh mowed grass....
to aging rolls of hay piled high,
To make my experience even more pleasurable,
I have created, what is for me,
my perfect jog playlist.
It consists of these four songs at the moment:
Be Here Now – Ray LaMontagne
The Ballad of Larry Webb – JJ Grey & M*O*F*R*O
Polly Come Home – Plant & Kraus
Dragonfly – Daryl Hance
heading back down in my holler ....
back into the house for a glass of ice water waiting for me!!
ahhhhh ... a grand exercise high!!
I won’t workout if it ain’t fun,
so I hafta make it fun!!!
Enjoy your weekend!!
Peace ~ Love ~ M*O*F*R*O
