So the standard issue radio in my 348,000 mile car went out last week. Completely fritzed out. I would guess if you are reading this, you don't drive down the road without something on the radio. I suffered a few days just singing to myself as I drove down the road, but that got old, and my passengers got tired of it. I bought a JVC HD radio headunit from Crutchfield and got it installed over the weekend. Holy cow! Have any of you guys discovered HD radio? It's wicked cool - kinda like XM or Sirius without the monthly fee. I know this is starting to sound like a commercial, but I just want ya'll to know that this HD radio thing is really neat. Some of the FM stations here in Hotlanta can broadcast three different HD channels on one band. Therefore you get stations that play bluegrass, americana (might hear some Mofro here!), classical, oldies, and other stuff that wouldn't sell on it's own.
I'm pretty happy with it, and I think I'll get more life out of my car having better sound and more options for tunes. You can also hook up your iPod/iPhone up to it and it sounds fantastic! Disclaimer: I do not sell or get paid to advertize or promote this product.
