The summer months seem to soak up so much more of my time as I tend to spend more and more of it in our garden and enjoying yardwork, and just being outside for hours on end. Being inside and doing loads of laundry or cleaning bathrooms, well, it just doesn't do it for me like accomplishing projects outdoors.
We had the pleasure of having my nephew Jack in town for the week, cept he and Sawyer spent the week at Gramma's and came for a visit Friday. We played cornhole and had a big ole bon far for Jack's last night in the mountains.
and while they played, I also 'played' in the yard.....
Had my M*O*F*R*O pod spreading tunes for
awl the nieghbors to enjoy!! ♪ ♫
Did LOTS of weeding of the beds, did 2 small bed and one large one
half way done with this one .......
I am so excited to lay the mulch down, I told Gregg to wait for me to lay the mulch,
as it is the final touch to my labors! ☺♥
after about 3 hours of pulling weeds,
I decided to relax a bit on the Front Porch and
enjoy nothing but the sounds of crickets and a
variety of birds thoughout the holler .....
Saturday prev-ning, Eva and Ryan came over and
Eva, Ryan, Zach, and I went for a jog back into the Vistas.
Then after pizza, we all gathered in the back yard for the bon far ...........
The kids roasted marshmallows and we had that fire going for hours!
It was such a fun time as we were able to hang out on what we now
call the "Fire Deck" -
the deck we cleaned up after about 5 years of not using it.
The fireflies were in abundance and it created a wonderful atmosphere to the evening!!
Saturday morning we (Zach, Ryan, Sawyer, Jack and I) drove to Knoxville to reunite Jack
with his Mama and Daddy! Great to see my sister and bro~in~law, even if it was for a short while.
Returned home and went right out to the garden, as it was time to harvest our garlic.
We ended up with about 100 heads!
Now we just have to let them 'cure' and dry and
then we shall give them there makeovers!!
Soon it was time to go and get cleaned up after my outdoor fun,
and I found myself
Sippin' on a Pom~Tini
While I breathe in deep the aroma
of the apple wood smoke dancing round the turkey below ....
~ Another day in the life of My Front Porch ~
Sunday morning I had to drag myself out of bed, but I will say it was worth it.
It was 7:30 and a crisp 56 degrees out ...... so I headed out
I just love how the fog, clouds, sun, etc. will affect how
the surrounding areas are seen, looks different all the time!
I kinda use it as my inspiration to get out there and excersise.
after my jog back in the Glens,
I made myself a wonderful breakfast consisting of:
beets, cabbage, celery, cukes, ginger,
carrots, spinach, apples and oranges!!
♥♥♥♥ <LOVIN MY JUICER!> ♥♥♥♥
After breakfast, I went and took care of the chickens and grabbed Mama's loppers
and did a bunch of lopping!! and boy, are my arms tired, lol!!
After another chore filled day, enjoying that excersise high ......
sittin here on my Front Porch,
freshly showered after an a amazing day from the beginning til now....
Relished the 56* foggy start for my jog
Soaked up the sunshine while I lounged in the pool
Was thankful for the clouds as they cooled the air while I work in the yard ...
Now a wondrous rain .... The deep hardy rain ..
... The crackling of the lightning
And the endless echo of the thunder as it
bounces off the mountains....
My Day is now complete
Thank you Lord,
as I am truly blessed ...
ENJOY YOUR WEEK!!
