Just received word from the venue... the show at The Intersection tonight in Grand Rapids was just cancelled... [frown]

Hoping everything is okay and it's something to do with bidness/scheduling...

I'm surprised at the schedule JJ maintains and this doesn't happen more often.

I agree Matt, must have been, what 3-4 years ago (back when JJ would perform a few songs at record stores the day of a performance) when his voice was pushed beyond its limits and JJ would continue to perform, not wanting to disappoint. I just feel bad for all the folks that so look forward to seeing Our Boys.  I have my fingers, toes, legs, and eyes crossed for luck that JJ heals up by Thursday.

Oh that was a fun time, when he'd do the record store appearances.  I remember the first show I saw here at The Vogue, he played at Indy Vinyl & CD before about 15-20 people tops.

JJ is a road warrior, and the only times I've known him to miss shows since I've been listening is either he's physically unable to perform (voice/illness), or when his grandma died and they had to cancel a couple shows.

I will never forget when he played at the Orange Peel a few years back. Clay saw JJ slumped over in a chair backstage, didn't even look like JJ, he had he full fledged flu, barely able to lift his head.  and when he came on stage and opened with Georgia Warhorse, it floored Clay.... it was a hell of a show and he bout dropped afterwards.

When did his Grandma pass away?  That is news to me.

I wanna say it was Feb. of last year.  He mentioned it on stage at a show we were at.  I believe it was the reason he had to bail out on the Blues at the Crossroads thing he was supposed to do.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, JJ Grey must cancel his performances with Blues at the Crossroads from January 31, 2013 - March 16, 2013.  JJ's good friend Tinsley Ellis will be taking his place on some of the dates and we strongly encourage you to go out and support this great project and this great bunch of musicians. Sorry for the inconvenience and please visit venue websites for updated show information."
