Greetings all,
The family and I drove up to Richmond on Saturday and caught the guys....the setlist went something like this: I may be missing a song and the order is close, it got a little fuzzy after galactic and i didn't write it down until I got back to the hotel...
War
DirtFloCracker
Brighter Days
A Woman
Beautiful World
Ho Cake
Sweetest Thing
Orange Blossoms
Lochloosa
Everything Good
Hide and Seek
Fire

Great show! JJ said that the bus brokedown between NYC and Richmond so they made it just on time...energy was pretty good, folks up front were obvious fans while the rest of us were spread throughout...great response from the whole crowd though...
Galactic followed and played a great headline set....well worth the drive and hotel...very nice event put on by the city, family friendly...great times were had by all..

Hey there mike92. Good to see ya here.

They're having some bad luck with buses lately. That happened to them several weeks back and they had to hang out on the side of the road until a new bus came.

I guess Art and/or Dennis didn't sit in for a song or 2 with Galactic? Problem wasn't time. They will a lot of times when they're not headed out to another location right away. Good stuff.

thanx mofro1, my son was tired so we left around half way thru the galactic set ...to that point no one came out to sit in, i was thinking a full horn section was gonna happen but galactic focused heavily on the tunes with corey glover...i was crossing my fingers for "sympathy of the devil" but it didn't happen before we left....

Just don't let it happen again. There's some people on here that can get real mean. I ain't gonna name names but one of 'em rhymes with wiggles and the other rhymes with funshine.

I've seen Art and Dennis sit in a few times but JJ only twice, once of them on Jam Cruise. Man was that killer. Love Galactic. They're one of the bands we travel for. But you're right it makes a big difference who's guesting with them as to what they play, and don't. My wife and I were just talking about that recently. They're always good but can be a little hot and cold. For what my opinion's worth...1 cent?

Don't listen to him mike92, I have only ever taken issue with thieving cabbies, otherwise I am as sweet & cuddly as a lil' kitten .

Welcome to the Front Porch mike, now excuse me while I go scratch mofrofan1's eyes out. LOL

Oh Spiderman was the West African cabbie that carted Blossom, Bad Habit and I around NYC. He loved me....which was a little insulting since he told me he liked ugly women. But I made nice since getting a cab in the East Village on a hopping Saturday is a BITCH.

We should have gone to Richmond, we would have gotten more songs than we got at the Chesapeake Bay Blues fest.  We still had a good time though : ).  Glad that you all enjoyed the Richmond show!

i've seen JJ sit in with Galactic more times than I can count, one of the best was the surprise appearance during Galactic's sunday set at Bear Creek a few years ago and the year before during a nasty lightning storm at B-Roo.......the absolute best was the JJ Grey and Galactic show at Bele Chere several years ago...i love mofro but listening to galactic play Ho Cake was enough to make JJ tear up.....definitely right on about the hot and cold gimmick...the other night they blew it up on Bongo Joe and then it cooled down when they brought back out Glover....
another reason I luv mofro so darn much, doesn't matter the environment or sit-in's, they just straight bring it every time

Would've loved to have seen that Belle Chere show Mike. I wonder if that's on the Archive? I wish Mofro'd go back and play there. We never made it to one and we absolutely love Asheville (have you ever met anyone who's been there who says "I don't like Asheville"? I haven't.)

I saw Mofro back in 2007 at Bele Chere, back when Adam, George and Daryl
were still part of the band here are a few pics:

I've seen that very look on Daryl's face before. More than once! Check out Chris' hair. It's been 5 years and it still looks just the same.

art sat in during that show for the first time with galactic as a member of the campbell brothers who that day played before col. bruce and the codetalkers (whom I miss dearly), pretty sure thats we're they all met and JJ found his sax player...art and ben went back and forth trading solo's for a killer baker's dozen, great stuff..
camping outside of asheville this weekend, planning on going back for bele chere in july and they recently just announced the guys playing at railroad earth's yearly festival in Boone, NC just north of Asheville so I've got another reason to go that way....
