An outrageously fun show in, second to Red Rocks, maybe my favorite venue for a JJG&M show.  The Cotillion, know locally as The Round Mound of Sound is a humongous domed ballroom built in the 50's, looking similar to some of those old roundhouse-style arenas.  A boatload of banquet tables are on the perimeter, bordering a huge wooden round dancefloor.  The highlight of this place is the stage, one of those Hollywood Bowl type bandshells, INDOORS!!!  Made it impossible for the band to hang its curtain, but the light and sound, especially the sound, was fantastic.  Lots and lots of room for the band to spread out.

Because the place was so big and domed ceiling so high, the PA was hung high up and out from the stage, so those of us at the front were actually inside the PA.  So there were "fill monitors" (Aaron had to 'splain all this tech stuff to us) dispersed along the massive stage.  Standing in between those, the sound was perfect, probably the best up front I've heard.  The horns sounded absolutely fantastic.

And the band, especially JJ, had an absolute blast!!!  Total energy, everybody on stage throwin' stuff in, laughin' and laughin' but no trainwrecks.  More groups of young guys in the front again, each one with a bucket of beer (with DUI warnings on each bucket).  Absolutely hilarious at the end, as the band was doing its outro, JJ at the stage lip signing all these empty buckets!

And did I mention how great the horns sounded?

You gotta be really bangin' on that guitar to make a bolo tie look good.
