This sounds like fun. Then slip over to Gulfport or Biloxi and do a little gambling. Makes for a nice weekend.

Or get yo' butt off the slots stool and catch Barenaked Ladies at Hard Rock Live/Biloxi.  No joke.  Maybe the old wizard will hitch up the covered wagon and head west?

Damn sure got my attention real quick there Craven. We're seeing them (with Blues Traveler, and Cracker) in Tampa about 2 weeks after that. But we looked it up after seeing your post and it's a no go. We'd have to fly or drive to Gulfport, go the fest, leave from there and go to the show at Hard Rock...all in one day. My 12 years younger than me trophy wife even said that's a bit much.

Wusses.  I even registered for the 5K run Sat morning before the fest starts.  But will prob scratch BNL and head to NOLA after the last act Sun evening.  Heard a rumor the bars stay open a little later there.

Hey MF1, I was looking into going as well. Isn't it free??? I think I saw that on the event website but not sure.  I am also taking my older brother (another Mofro virgin) to their show in Chatom, Alabama.  Its some music fest/bbq outside event.  Chatom is cooooouuuntry too so it ought to be fun.

Yep it's free. There's some great acts on Sat--seen Papa Grows Funk, Eric Lindell and Amanda Shaw and they're all worth seeing. Lots of others worthy of seeing that I ain't seen. But we're gonna sit out this one. Flying would be expensive and gas wouldn't be a whole lot cheaper.

That In the Pines Festival is out in the woods man, holy shit. I just snagged this off wikipedia for Chatom AL: As of the census of 2000, there were 1,193 people, 449 households, and 308 families residing in the town.

I'd also be concerned about attending a festival that lists one of its events as "Pork in the Pines." It makes me think of Deliverance.
